Here's the newest member of the family: Sir Chubby Cheeks. Why did we have an ultrasound at 35 weeks, you might ask...
When I went for my appointment last week the midwife was concerned that I was measuring small. I remember that this had been a concern last time with Jack and he turned out to be an 8 pounder, so I wasn't too worried. But she said that I'm measuring even smaller this time and sent us over to get an ultrasound. I kind of freaked out when I read the referral slip and saw that "poor fetal growth" was the box she had marked. According to my measurement he was in the 5th percentile for weight, meaning if I carried him to term he might be under 6 pounds. We were able to get an appointment for the next day.
Of course the technician can't tell you anything, but one look at those cheeks was pretty reassuring for us. When the midwife called that night to discuss the ultrasound results she said,"I have no idea why you are measuring small. This is a big baby."
Lucky me.
So there he is, Sir Chubby Cheeks, just packing on the pounds in there. It's going to be a long three and a half weeks...

Yay! What a little cutie pie! May he be just the right size! If you are measuring small and he is nice and plump, perhaps he'll be another 8 pounder. That's what Orion weighed and it was lovely. Soleo was an astonishing 9lbs, 12oz. May Sir Chubby Cheeks not be quite so big. (Though Soleo was a champion sleeper at that size!)
Cheers to two boys!
